GALVESTON - Ball High freshman Greg Rollins became a Galveston legend in the Tors' 87-84 triple-overtime victory over La Marque on Tuesday night, but he almost was an afterthought in the thriller.

Playing in a mop-up role with his Tors getting pummeled by 17 points late in the third quarter, the 5-foot-9, 140-pound guard hammered a dunk over La Marque's 6-foot-2 power forward Trevon Del Rio.

"I was feeling the adrenaline of the crowd, so I went for it," Rollins said, grinning through his braces after the game.

Ball coach Jerald Temple said he had never seen Rollins dunk before, much less a posterizing dunk that would've made the ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10.

"I had to call a timeout and let the kids fully enjoy it," Temple said. "You have to let them soak that one in."

You couldn't tell the crowd it was a meaningless game between two teams fighting for just their third win in District 24-4A. The fans were taken back to one year ago when the two teams were playing for a regional title.
