ECU Library events and initiatives:

· Paws to Read with Rouxi and Heshey  (read 20 books and get to read with the dogs/ pictures taken)

· Rita’s Italian Ice cooperation (coupon for free Italian ice with every 5 chapter books read)

· Read Tac Toe  (genre bingo game with prizes and special field trip for students completing a black out)

· 100 book challenge  (read 100 books and receive a pizza party)

· Accelerated Reader  (points and prizes)

· Library Night (every third Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 6:30) with Special Themes

· Book It in conjunction with Pizza Hut  (students have opportunity to receive personal pan pizza coupon each month from Oct – Nov)

· Name That Book Competition for 3^rd and 4^th Graders

· Book Fair

· Podcast book reports

· Book trailers created by students

Themes for Library Nights:  1^st Semester

Library Night:  Wednesday, September 21, 2011  from 5:00-6:30 Theme:  Discover the Treasures of Reading  (Pirate stories and activities)

October’s Library night is scheduled for Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 5:00-6:30 Theme:  Fall into Reading  (Book Character Pumpkin decorating activity with Halloween story telling)

November:  Book Fair Week of November 14^th – 18^th.  Fair will be opened late on  (Library Night) Wednesday, November 16^th for Parents and staff ….. early Christmas shopping book fair theme is TO THE BOOK FAIR AND BEYOND  (aliens/space theme)

December’s Library night is scheduled for Wednesday, December 14^th, 2011 with a Polar Express Pajama party planned.
